BP, the video will be back. And hopefully others will do more during this year's state so we can have more than just Tony's perspective. :) - Buck |

Buck I don't mean the video will go missing, I mean the smack talker on that video may go missing, you have to listen carefully, but... check the video about the 9 minute mark to about the 10 minute mark.
TP"I play Rob...nice guy, Brian... nice guy" Smack talker, "I don't like those guys" TP "what don't you like about them", Smack talker- Duhhhh, I don't know( er something) "I don't like the way they play"
I am planning to try to get some good photos to post at the tourney.
Are you going to play. Hope you and yours are well.

Granny- His tournament to lose, he's won it many years in a row, plays great as the season goes on, big match player not going to be nervous when down a few points. Jansen- needs to peak on saturday to get to the final, very fast, can disguise his shot no good way to get a read on it, needs to keep his lungs and not burn out during long rallies, Jim- coming off a tournament win in st. cloud, won state doubles, beat granny this year, if he plays his game he's right there. Jake- If he plays should win this without dropping a game, playes for a college rball team, trains at 6,000 feet, ball moves twice as fast should be slow motion to him here, can he come back when down in games without losing his temper THATS THE BIG QUESTION???? Shawn- heard he broke his finger and might not play, a bit green against the experieced players, needs to get tuff on the court, Jade- needs to get tuff on the court, can hit every shot, a bit green against the experienced players, myself- been a great year with some big wins (Swain, Granny), coming off of a 1.5 year layoff, 3 years since last state tourney, needs to keep his lungs, can hit the shots when needed, needs to peak on sat and sun, rob, lee, justin, dave, andy, bp, tony p- can play with the big boys, look for one of these players to pull an upset or take a seed the distance, |

I like the analysis Goth, you can't forget Foss, Homsey, or Brew in that last group either. All of them can put together games, but its the consistency and endurance to put together a whole weekend that's needed to hit the final rounds. It should be a great draw this year if everyone plays. Hey Jake sounds like a couple of folks are tallking about you... Better bring your "A" game. Don't get "lost" in your emotions, and don't "disappear" after you get down in a game. |

In regards to photos and video. I will try to take photos at the tourney and will post them on the site (If my technical skillz allow) Also, if there is anyone who has a video camera and needs someone to man it (at times) throughout the tourney, I should be available to help out. It would be great to put as many of the good matches that we can on the site. Buck or Tony, others, let me know if I can help out at all in that regard. |

| I'm calling for a Tourney social outing of sorts. I think we should go Fri or Sat to some U of M bar. Loring Pasta Bar, Kitty Cat Club, Stub and Herbs. Not a get wasted party night at a College bar, but a hang out and have a beer, shoot the R-ball breeze, sort of thing with some R-ball friends, at a decent restaurant in the area. I think Sat Night would be best. Any votes for venues or nights. I'm voting for Sat. But will do some research on places to go, I'll try to find something decent, without a cover charge, and nothing too crazy or loud. |

Wow! Must be a guy in his 30s who wrote this! LOL. BP, great idea, I am in. That is a part of State that has been missing I think...and Sat night would work best I think as well.
See you folks next weekend.

Hey Buddy.... I still feel like I'm 21...some days, when I'm not chasing kids around, or taking orders from my dear wife (Sometime she looks at the site), or drinking a beer at 10:30pm and falling asleep on the couch. LOL
I think Stub and Herbs is the most convienient. Within walking distance, serves food til midnight with specials 10-midnight, no cover and they serve many options of the all important beer.

| Agreed. Just have to make sure there are no games or other U of M events that evening, as those bars can fill up fast. Stub & Herbs is a great choice, by the way. |

STUB AND HERB'S IT IS! I have reserved a space in the game room at Stub and Herbs 9pm- on Saturday Night. It is not exclusive space, but will guarantee some room for the group. There is no U of M events that night at the U, but there is HS sports that may be going on. They will have their specials from 10pm to Midnight and are open until 2am. It is literally 2 blocks away from the Tourney. Go to the web site for directions or info on the food and drinks. www.stubandherbsbar.com Hope to see you there!!! BP |

Does anyone know what is the host hotel. I couldn't find it listed anywhere. If there isn't a host hotel, can anyone suggest a good hotel close to the courts?

http://www.radisson.com/minneapolismn_metrodome Not sure about room availability or rates, but this is a nice hotel and within walking distance of the Rec Ctr. Here are a few others: http://www.holidayinn.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/mspmd?&url=true&stopredirect=true&cm_mmc=mdpr-_-googlemaps-_-hi-_-mspmd&dp=true http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=08225&brandInfo=DI http://www.thedepotminneapolis.com/ I am guessing that Days Inn would be most affordable. Good luck! Chad |

I did grab one of these certificates today. They are still $10 for a $25 gift cert. and you have to buy $35 of food items. Good for a group if you know 2-10 to go in with on the deal. There are other options for larger Gift Certs. too. Thanks for the info Dana. Again, all are welcome to come over to Stub and Herb's Sat night 9 or later, space is reserved in the game room. |

Lee, u know I love you man... Therefore you know that I am going to give you shxx and I am going to encourage others to do the same... Lee may not be able to make it next weekend. His sandbagging services may be needed in the Red River valley. Ball busting, it's the way juvenile acting men say to eachother, "You're important to me and dag gonnit... I care." -BP |

The anticipation grows, the last few kinks get worked out of our games, and the first sure sign of Spring is upon us...It is State Singles week. I personally have not played a State Singles tournament since I believe about 1993. But do recall some of the same emotions as a teenager. Anticiaption, excitement, wondering if my game will be what I expect of it once the ball hits the court. For me this has been a great year. Reconnecting with old racquetball friends and meeting several new ones, losing 30# playing the game I love. I've been glad to see so many have continued playing, and to see that Racquetball is still alive and well. The numbers have definately been reduced, but I have the feel that MN Rball may have a resurgence in the coming years. With the rumors flying about the US Open, and the opportunity for exposure, and competition that this brings, the future looks to be bright for R-ball in MN. I want to thank all that have made the racquetball tourneys this year a great experience. Dave, Andy, Aaron, George S, Bill, Jason and many others I have forgotten or was unaware of. I would also like to wish everyone the best of luck, and that we all have a safe and exciting weekend of R-ball. I am predicting some great battles in the men's open and the A singles. Some names to look out for would be: in the A- Tony A, Sam and Jordan, of course. and in the Open I expect to see some serious battles from the quarters on. Possibly an upset of a 3-8 seed, and I would guess (as would most) a Grandberg finals against Goth. This may turn out to be the best match of the year, a serious battle with some history behind it. I wouldn't trade it for Sunday brunch if I were you. |
